When I was working, my friend cooked this one day. Those days I never have cooked shrimp at home and even eat out. But I liked this at the first attempt itself, fell in Love with this. I love to have them with white rice.
Prawns Tomato Fry / Thakkali Shrimp Masala

Ingredients
- Prawn/ Shrimp - 1 pckt ( Medium or Tiny )
- Big Onion - 2 nos
- Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 tsp
- Curry Leaves - 1 strand
- Tomatoes - 3 nos
- Cumin Powder - 1 tsp
- Coriander Powder - 2 tsp
- Red Chili Powder - 2 tsp
- Garam Masala - 1 tsp
- Turmeric Powder - ½ tsp
- Green Chili - 4 nos
Instructions
PREP:
- Clean the shrimp, cut the head, tails and devein.
- Chop the onion and tomato.
- Split open green chilies.
- Chop coriander Leaves. .
COOKING:
- In a pan, heat oil. When hot, add onion saute well till it becomes golden brown.
- Add ginger garlic paste, curry leaves and fry till the raw smell leaves.
- Add the tomatoes, green chili and cook till oil separates. i.e. till all the water is evaporated.
- Add cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, garam masala, turmeric powder, salt and fry for 2 minutes.
- Add the shrimp and allow it to cook till all the water is evaporated, approximately 10 min.
- Add coriander leaves.
TIPS:
- Overcooking shirmp would turn it rubbery.
- Add fenugreek leave to make variations.

This was one good recepie…i made this when i had guests at home for dinner…happy that this recepie didnt require coconut!! it turned out good..i added little paprika for color and lil sambar podi as well!
