Paasi Paruppu Payasam (Moong Dal Payasam)

I have been thinking to make something mild and sweet for evening and got remained of this.
Details

Servings: 2 cups
Ingredients
  • 1 cup - Paasi Paruppu / Moong Dal
  • 1 cup - Milk
  • 3/4 - Sugar
  • 1 cup - Water
  • 1 teaspoon - Ghee
  • 10 counts - Cashew nut
  • 10 counts - Raisins
  • 1 teaspoon - Cardamom / Elaichi powder
Directions
  1. Step 1
    Soak Moong dhal in water for 30 min and wash it threoughly. Cook dhal with milk and water in a pressure cooker for 2 whistles. After the pressure is released mash the dhal.
  2. Step 2
    Fry the cashews and raisins in ghee. Now add the dhal, cardamom powder and alow it to boil for 2-3 min.
Tips :
  • If it's too thich add some more water.

    Hey Naveena, Thanks for the add. I do prepare this very often at home. when ever there's idili/dosa, this is must ..
    But I don't add Curry masala,Garam Masala and Ginger. Nice Click too..

    Thilaka, Thanks for adding the Chutney recipe. It's very easy, I bet it would taste very good. I remember having it for raw pongal in the temples during the festival season.
