Tomato Sambar/ Thakali Kulambu

This the best combo with coconut chutney for idili or dosa and is easy to prepare.

Servings: 5 cups
Ingredients
  • 1 stick Cinnamon
  • 1 medium Big Onion
  • 3 counts Tomato
  • 1 piece Ginger
  • 3 cloves Garlic
  • 5 counts Red chillies
  • 3 sticks Curry leaves
  • 1.4 cups Coriander leaves
  • 1 tablespoon Cumin seeds
  • 1 tablespoon Channa dhal
  • 1 tablespoon Coriander powder
  • 1 tablespoon Curry masala
  • 1/4 teaspoon Garam masala
Directions
  1. Step 1
    In a pan add oil and fry cumin seeds, channa dhal, red chillies and curry leaves. Then add chopped ginger, garlic and onion and fry till golden brown.
  2. Step 2
    Fry the chopped tomatoes separately and grind the contents into a fine paste with coconut, salt and coriander and curry masala powders
  3. Step 3
    In another pan add oil, mustard, cinnamon Stick, Curry Leaves and fry for 30 sec, add the ground mix.
  4. Step 4
    when it comes to a boil add garam masala and reduce the flame n keep it for 10 mins.Garnish with coriander leaves.

    Hey Naveena, Thanks for the add. I do prepare this very often at home. when ever there's idili/dosa, this is must ..
    But I don't add Curry masala,Garam Masala and Ginger. Nice Click too..
