Mint Coriander Chicken Gravy / Pudhina kothamali Chicken
When I went to one of my friend’s house, they prepared this gravy for dinner. Oh man !! I really fell in love with that since then. It’s been some yrs since I prepared, so I don’t remember the recipe exactly. Each time I prepare this, I try to get to the original. Am trying still, when I get it exactly, I will update this post with the additional details.

Ingredients :
Chicken 1 lb
Mint Leaves 1/2 bunch
Coriander Leaves 1 bunch
Green Chili 2 no
Oil 4 tbsp
Big Onion 1 no
Ginger Garlic Paste 1 1/2 tsp
Garam Masala 1 tsp
Red Chili Powder 1 tsp
Coriander Powder 1 tsp
Salt to taste
water 1 cup
Directions:
  1. Step 1

Separate the leaves of Mint and Coriander. Grind them together with Green Chili to a fine paste. Cut the Chicken in to medium size pieces. Chop the Onion.

  2. Step 2

In a non stick pan add oil, when hot add Mustard. When it splutters, add the chopped Onion. When the Onion become golden brown, add Ginger Garlic Paste and fry till the raw smell leaves. Add the ground paste and fry till oil separates.

  3. Step 3

Add Chicken, Garam Masala, Red Chili Powder, Coriander Powder and Salt. Fry for 2 min. Add the water and close the pan with lid.Check for salt and spicy. Stir often to avoid the burn. Cook till the Chicken is cooked and Oil separates.

Tips :
  • Very strong smell of Mint leaves spoils the taste,  if the mint smell is very strong then reduce it accordingly.
  • Use the whole Chicken for better taste

(*) Good combo with white rice and Chapathi. Recipe from one of my Friends.

Cooking Tips

“While storing green chilies in refrigerator remove its stem, wash in water and spread on a kitchen towel & allow it to dry for 1/2 day. Store this in a plastic container. It stays fresh for more than 2 weeks and remains green.”
